Andrea Tkaczyk Obituary
She devoted her time to raising her three daughters, Natasha, Alexa, and Sasha Paikin, with passion, purpose, and pride. She also celebrated 31 years with her husband, Jeff Paikin, this past December on a meaningful and memorable journey.
Andrea is survived by her parents, Stan and Shirley; her in-laws, Larry and Marnie Paikin; her sister, Lori Lutz (Ed), and nephews Andrew (Bailey) and Josh Lutz; brother-in-law Steve Paikin (Francesca), nephews Zach (Meredith & Zelda), Henry, and Teddy Paikin along with niece Giulia.
Andrea graduated from nursing at Mohawk College in 1985 and continued her love of education at McMaster University where she received her B.Sc.N. in 1991. Her educational passion continued at UCLA where she graduated with her M.N. in 1993 with first-class honours. After the birth of daughter Natasha in 1995, she was partway through her PhD program in nursing and decided to devote her time to her family first, withdrawing from school in order to start the process of raising her three daughters.
Over the years, she dedicated her time in her career in the ICU, the stroke prevention clinic, medical research, and the breast cancer clinic.
Andrea was a perpetual optimist whose glass was always half full. To her last day, she always had a moment to thank those who helped her, proof that she always put the needs of others ahead of herself.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Sunjay Sharma; Dr. Sheila Singh; Dr. Jeremy Paikin; Dr. Michelle Paikin; Dr. Alejandro Torres-Trejo; Dr. Henry Friedman and the team at Duke University; Dr. Hal Hirte; Dr. Haider Samawi; Dr. Tarek Kazem; and many other doctors, nurses, and numerous staff at the Hamilton General, Juravinski, Innomar, InterHealth Canada in Turks and Caicos, and Oakville Trafalgar, all of who helped her in the past four plus years; to her friends who helped get her to where she needed to be; and to the family members who supported her along the way.
Funeral arrangements have been made under the provincial COVID-19 regulations and will be limited in numbers. More information will follow to friends and family.
As per Andrea's wishes, in lieu of donations to any particular cause, please hug someone with meaning and purpose who is special to you.

I was recently notified of the passing of Ms. A. Paikin. Even though I never met Ms. A. Paikin but I'm sure she was a very special lady because Jeff was a very special man. That's how it works GOD always put the very special ones together. Always remember GOD only takes the special folks. Now she is in heaven continuing her profession taking care of others. Remember she is in the upper room working where there are no worries everyday is sunny and peaceful. until I eventually meet you make sure you hold my place in heaven.

Jeff and families... I know this web site message is late, but I haven't stopped thinking of you all, and hoping that you are OK at this difficult time of your lives. Attempting to follow Andrea's wishes, I have tried to hug those close to me, but in these pandemic days, it's been a very difficult act to complete. But I continue to think of you, and am hoping you will all still be OK down the tough road ahead. I met Andrea when we both started nursing school. She was so much fun to be with and we spent many nights studying and weekends having fun. Sadly we lost touch after graduation. she was a kind, thoughtful and always happy. I am sorry we lost contact. My thoughts go out to her family
