On a path we all must take, our beloved mother, Baba, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend Ann Natalie Polos (née Gryglewicz) passed away peacefully on September 29, 2022, in her ninety-third year. She has joined her darling husband of 63 years Wally (Dr. Walter Eugene Polos), parents John and Ksenia Gryglewicz (née Mokrynska), sister and brother-in-law Jennie and Peter Barabash, brother and sister-in-law John and Veronica Gryglewicz, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Morris and Olga Roscoe, niece Andrea Lacasse, and close friends Dr. Morris and Helen Lazarowich, Bob and Adie Armstrong, and William Sametz. Ann will be deeply missed by her children Dr. Daniel Polos (Shelley Falla), Dyanne Semogas (Dr. Peter Szatmari), and Roxanne Dadswell (Clint); and her nieces and nephews Dr. Joanne Barabash (Romano), Paul Gryglewicz (Chelsa), Dr. Martin Roscoe (Barbara), and David Roscoe. Ann was a much beloved Baba to her treasured grandchildren Kathryn Semogas (Travis Van Clieaf), Linden Polos (Brian Krause), Collin Polos, Claire Szatmari (Matt Watts), Josie Szatmari (Spencer Grenville), and great-grandchild Darcy Grenville. She will be lovingly remembered by her dear friends Rose Sametz and Jennie and John Kuzemko. Born in Winnipeg and raised in Montreal, Ann was a devoted member of her local Ukrainian community and church. Gifted with a beautiful voice, she loved music and singing alongside her children and friends, often with Wally accompanying her on the piano or accordion. Together, she and Wally established a thriving family dental practice in Hamilton, of which they were both immensely proud. A longtime member of the Hamilton Golf and Country Club, Ann was a golfer and all-around sports fan, who enjoyed cheering on the Hamilton Tiger Cats and Toronto Blue Jays. Ann was an avid reader with a keen interest in current events and politics who followed news at home and abroad closely, and most recently prayed for the people of Ukraine. Later in life she found great joy in painting and creating art. Ann's family, friends and community are blessed with the many fond memories that she has left behind. We will cherish her always and strive to follow her example of strength and courage in difficult times, and in showing kindness and compassion to others. In Ann's words: One journey ends and another begins, for as Jesus said (John 14-2): "In my Father's house there are many mansions." So now I leave you to dwell with my beloved Wally. Perhaps that star that shines brighter in the night sky is the one that we dwell in - it is as Jesus promised. Love one another as Dad and I have loved you. Special thanks to Dr. Anna-Marie Emili and to all the staff at Highgate Residence - most especially to the Life Enrichment Team, Health Services Team, Housekeeping, Reception and Food Services for their truly exemplary, compassionate care. Visitation (10:00am) and service (11:00am) held on Wednesday, October 5th at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 1010 Botanical Drive, Burlington (905.527.0405). Flowers gratefully declined. If desired, donations to St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Church or to a charity supporting those in need is appreciated.
