Anthony Strabac Obituary

It is with devastated hearts that Tony's family announce his passing on June 14, 2022, at the age of 66. Tony was devoted to his family, which was his life's number one pride, purpose and priority. Married to his best friend and soul mate, Sue. Over the 30 plus years together they built a beautiful family and followed their dreams with so many incredible travel and life adventures. No opportunity to experience the joys of travelling together were ever passed up. Sue will miss planning, experiencing and reveling in the afterglow of every journey with her Med Man.

Father to Nico, the first-born son of a first-born son and Liam, his Paddy Boy. As a father, he couldn't have been prouder of the men they have become. Nico and his dad shared a love and respect for hard work which manifested in many projects which can be seen around the house. Tony marvelled at Nico's strong work ethic and his love of the environment and was so proud of his musical talents. Nico shares his father's interest in history, ancient cultures, and science fiction. Those discussions will be sorely missed.

Liam and his dad shared a strong passion for sports. Tony never missed a chance to watch Liam play both football and soccer as a youth. As Liam aged, Tony was equally happy to spend endless hours watching sports together. When Liam embarked for Australia to attend Medical school, that shared passion continued. Many Saturday mornings were spent texting each other about how each of their teams were doing especially Manchester United. Tony couldn't wait to visit Liam, and his partner Samantha, in Australia to attend his forthcoming graduation, marking a new adventure for this seasoned traveller.

A grandpa to Richelle, his baby girl, Tony cherished his role in her life. They shared so many silly and sweet moments together. He reveled in his part of helping raise her. Tony adored her and nurtured her creativity. He was always so impressed by Richelle's natural artistic and musical talents.

Tony will be remembered and honoured by many close friends, who he considered more family than his family. You know who you are. With his family and friends, he delighted in being a proud Hamiltonian and North Ender. He loved football. Tony treasured the memories as a former Ottawa Gee-Gee, playing alongside many of his closest friends. He also loved history, singing, drawing, photography, painting, writing poetry, working out and cooking. His talents knew no bounds. He was driven to express himself. We are left with a legacy of his artistic gifts that will be honoured and cherished. Tony was a Catholic teacher for 30 years. He used all of his talents in his job, directing moving Passion Plays, choirs and coaching all levels of sports. He always said he learned more from the kids than he taught them. I know he made an incredible impact on many as he had a way to reach kids and let them know how special they were. Tony had an extraordinary ability to do that with everyone!
As per Tony's wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Church, Hamilton. Visitation at the Church starts at 10 am and Mass begins at 10:30 am. Mass will be livestreamed on stpatrickshamilton.ca
A celebration of Tony's rich life will be held at a later date.
So good bye cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend.

For some reason today I was intrigued to search up my 6th grade teacher Mr. Strabac from St.Marys elementary. He often comes up in mind when I think back to those days, his very strong voice filling the churches as we all sang children of the light together, or even his passion directing us in the passion of the Christ plays. He had such a love for the arts and directly influenced me to pursue my creativity. He had such a way to intrigue young minds to think bigger than what we knew, bigger than our inner city school. I wanted to search him up today with the means to contact him and let him know how much he influenced me to pursue my arts.

I´m happy he´s left behind a legacy and that his love for the arts didn´t end with him. Sending my condolences to his family, I know this loss was a big one.

As many have stated on here, he had a larger-than-life personality which drew you to him, and had an equally big heart to match. I would like to express my sincere condolences to you and your family. I had the pleasure of being the E.A. in Tony`s room at St Luke School.
I remember his kindness and compassion to all, as well as his sense of humour, he had a wealth of knowledge and I, as well as his students learned so much from him that year! Tony had music on in the classroom each morning and would be singing...such a nice way to start the day for everybody! He spoke of his family often with so much love and I am so sorry for your loss, and so grateful to have known him.

Susan, Nico & Liam....
My heartfelt prayers and hugs come your way, arms to envelope you. Wow, we met in July of 2009 during the massive flooding in Hamilton. I was blessed to work closely with you all during your homes basement restoration. Words will never capture the reality of your kindness, cooperation, support, encouraging and caring words, you accepted me into your home during such daunting times, you made me feel like a true part of your family. Upon the completion of the restoration You & Tony graciously invited me into your home, we celebrated around "Tony's Bar", a memorable evening. Tony was bigger than life and yet so kind, gentle, fun and compassionate, I became a friend of Tony & Susan, what an honor. Susan.... You, Tony & The Boys are embedded in my heart forever. Thank you for blessing my soul. I'm praying for you.
Lovingly, Ronnie 905-961-4155
