Arnaldo Berardocco Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Arnaldo Antonio Berardocco on December 24, 2020 at the age of 86 after a brief but valiant fight with cancer. Beloved husband of Maria (nee Nardone) for nearly 60 years; cherished father to Luciano (Clara), Sandro (Jacquie), and Tina Di Cesare (Fabian); adored nonno to Matthew (Melanie), Alyssa, Victoria, Daniele, Kiera, and Ethan. Lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters, late Mafalda Sciarra (late Corradino), late Nicola (late Celeste), Lelio (Concetta), Remo (Anna), Romolo (Laura), and Ginetta Gucciardi (Luigi), and brothers- and sisters-in-law, late Pantaleone (Gina), Fernando (Albina), Norina Sartorelli (late Angelo), Peppino (Concetta), and Piacentina Antonelli (Guido). Predeceased by his parents Luciano and Assunta, parents-in-law Michele Nicola, Piacentina, and Maria Nardone (stepmother). Tony will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Canada, the United States, Italy, and Australia. Tony was born in Miglianico, Chieti, Italy and, after his military service, he travelled to Jasper, Alberta, Canada in 1957 to work on the railroad. In 1961, he returned to Italy to marry Maria, and shortly after, they continued their life in Canada. Over the next 60 years, Tony became a founding member of the Val Del Foro Italian Social Club, retired from the Ford Motor Company after 31 years of service, was knighted by the Republic of Italy as Cavaliere Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana for his military achievements, and raised a beautiful family. Family and friends meant everything to Tony and Maria; their home was always open for a visit, with wine, a homemade meal, and an espresso to finish it off. He and Maria enjoyed their travels around the world to reunite with friends and family. They loved their winter home in Florida, enjoying the beach, playing bocce and cards, and dancing the night away at the clubhouse. Tony will be remembered for his passion for winemaking and his garden. He will also be remembered for his generous heart and warm smile, but above all, spending time with his grandchildren, taking them fishing, and supporting and celebrating their accomplishments. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Voon and Brenda for their exceptional care, the compassionate caregivers, especially Elyse and Rebecca, and the supportive staff at The Carpenter Hospice and both the Juravinski and Joseph Brant Hospitals. Due to current restrictions, the Funeral Prayer Service and Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery will be private. The Funeral Prayer Service, officiated by Father Janusz, will be broadcasted on Tuesday, December 29 at 1:00 p.m. EST. Please visit www.smithsfh.com for the livestream link and to share photos, memories, and condolences. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date once it is safe to do so. Memorial donations in Tony's name to The Carpenter Hospice at www.thecarpenterhospice.com or the Cancer Assistance Program Hamilton www.cancerassist.ca are sincerely appreciated. Sempre nei nostri cuore. Riposa in pace.

Several years ago in Florida, a chance meeting at a dinner dance led to our introduction to Tony and Maria, a couple who instantly made us feel as though we had been friends for many years. They had a way of making you feel special and Tony was the host above all and a caring genuine individual. He shared a concern for every one he met and all knew he was someone you could count on if every you needed a friend. We shared many cherished moments at Lakeside Village with Tony and Maria whether chatting around the pool, the dinner table or over Tony's famous cappuccino's or espresso and Maria's pastries. Our very deepest condolences to Maria and all Tony's loved ones. We will remember Tony in our prayers and with much affection. We were blessed to have known him. May he rest in peace.

Antonio was an exceptional individual with a sincere view of life and friendships and with a true heart of gold. Regardless of whether you were family or just a friend, you were always welcomed as being a special person going to visit for some quality time with Tony and his lovely wife Maria. It was always a special treat for me when my best friend Celeste would ask me to accompany her for a visit to her in-laws in Burlington for an afternoon get-together. We always knew that it was going to be a special time with 2 of the finest people on this earth and sharing many stories and life experiences. My sincere condolences to Maria and her entire family. You will be in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Dear Antonio, may God give you Rest In Peace. You will certainly be missed.
