Arnaldo D'Aurelio Obituary

It is with deep sadness and profound gratitude for a life so well lived, we announce the passing of Arnaldo William D'Aurelio, in his 88th year. Dearly beloved husband and best friend to his loving and devoted wife Patricia for 65 blessed years. Proud and loving father to Philip (Sonia), Paul (Geni) and Joanne De Rubeis (George). He was a cherished and precious papa, who will be deeply missed by grandchildren Robert (Karolina), Danielle (Jordan Williamson), Amanda (Marc Lipkus), Paula (Michael Salvatore), Felicia (Steven Ventresca), Jacqueline (Daniel Veloce), Vanessa (Chris Bi), and Celine (Aruuran Anandarajah). He was a proud great-grandfather to Mila, Domenic, Leo, Myles and Carina and their visits always brought pure joy and happiness. He enjoyed a lifelong friendship with Ozzie Hammond who was like a brother to him. Arnaldo was predeceased by his parents Domenic and Francesca D'Aurelio and son-in-law to Raffaele and Josephine Gentile. Affectionately known as 'Arnie', he was proud of his North End roots, heritage, friendships, and connections. He attended St. Lawrence Catholic Elementary School and Cathedral High School. Arnie was a proud and dedicated employee at Dofasco as a Chemist in the Metallurgy Lab for 40 years. He was a devoted husband and father, coaching many of his children's sports teams and ensuring many family vacations. Arnie was unassuming, he always inspired hope and confidence with his wisdom. He had a big heart filled with love, kindness, courage, generosity, and concern for others. He instilled the enduring values of family, responsibility, work ethic and perseverance. Arnie was an athlete excelling in many sports and an avid sports fan. His favourite teams included the Hamilton Ti-Cats and the Toronto Blue Jays. His special gift was his ability to connect with others and make people feel important and valued. Much of this was done through his extensive volunteerism with many different organizations. Arnie was an interested observer and he and his wife Pat enjoyed many travels together, but he very much loved his home city of Hamilton, always noting its unique escarpment and waterfront. Dad was a Man of Faith, and we are Blessed to have had him in our lives. May He Rest in Peace. A private family Mass at St. Eugene's Catholic Church and Funeral Service at PX Dermody has taken place to celebrate Dad's inspirational life. A donation to Mission Services of Hamilton would be an honour to our dad's memory to support people in need within our city.

It was with great sadness that I learned about the passing of Arnold. We were friends from the pool , where we swam together for several years.
He was a man that I, like many others, always respected and valued his opinion. I will certainly miss his cheerful outlook and valued opinion.

We loved Cousin Arn for all his admirable qualities and learned so much from him. He was funny and the hippest person I ever knew. Every time we called to check up on him and Pat, it was like he had gathered a few stories in preparation for our call.
All our love to Pat and family,
Bob and Peggy
