Audrius Gureckas Obituary

Dr. Audrius Leonas Gureckas of Hamilton, Ontario passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 in Smithville Ontario the community he worked in and loved for over 40 years! Audrius (also known as Dr. G) was born in Hamilton, Ontario on December 3, 1953 to Tonia and Antanas Gureckas of Lithuanian descent (both deceased). He attended Western University in London, Ontario and graduated with an honours degree in dentistry. Audrius (Andy, as many knew him by), worked as a dentist creating beautiful smiles with his impeccable orthodontic skills. He excelled in all areas of dentistry and was passionate about his profession, coworkers and patients and he loved his family dearly and was always there for them day or night. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Catherine Anne Gureckas (nee Hay), his three daughters, Andrea, Alanna and Ashleigh-Anne, his beloved granddogs Emma, Bandit and cats Fiji and Willis. Also his brothers, Aidis, Saulius and sister Vida and numerous nephews and nieces. Audrius loved cars to the max! Especially his DeLorean and amphi cars... He enjoyed spending time at the family cottage (that his dad built) with all of the relatives especially his mother and creating special memories there. He always had the "big video camera" on his broad shoulders recording the precious moments we all hold dear. Dr. G's quirky dad jokes made everyone smile. The outpouring of condolences and support from friends, family and the dental community showcases how respected, loved and cherished he was and will continue to be. Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home "William J. Markey Chapel", 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Monday, June 20, 2022 from 2:30-4:30 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. A private Celebration of Life and interment will be held for family at later date in July 2022 at Lithuanian Martyrs' Church in Mississauga, Ontario. Memorial donations may be made in Audrius' name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. He will be deeply missed by all the lives he touched.

Three months since your passing Dad, and you are missed every day. I am so glad I had such a wonderful dad who made a positive impact on so many people. Your generosity, kindness and humour will live on in the hearts of those whom had the pleasure of knowing you. Thank you for setting me up so well for my future, it's my time to carry the torch. I love you beyond time and space, I know you know that.

I just heard that he passed today. He was a friendly guy who never failed to make anyone laugh. I only saw him monthly for my dentist appointments but he was someone who I considered a friend.

I just heard of his passing and I had to post here. He was such a funny guy and made every one of my orthodontist appointments really fun as a result. He would get staff laughing and always had something funny to say to people. I was looking forward to seeing him for my visit today, only to find out he passed. I just wanted to share that he had a positive impact on my life in the short time I knew him, and I'm so sad that he's not around anymore.

To the family and friends of Dr. G... I have had the pleasure of knowing him more than 30 years by serving the industry we dedicated our lives to...orthodontics. We would chat every few weeks, not just about business, but about life, and family as well. I will miss those talks and I will miss him. Dr. G...rest in peace.

Dear Andy´s family, friends and co-workers, We are so sorry to hear of your loss of Andy. Our family and friends found Andy to be the best dentist we all had ever had. Our mom, Anne Beard worked with Andy for many years and even after her passing we continued to drive over one hour to have Andy as our dentist. Andy had skill, humour, compassion and integrity. Our mom and all of us looked up to Andy and his professionalism.
