Barbara Edwards Obituary

Barbara Edwards (April 17th 1948 - May 8th 2023)

Barb passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Healthcare in Hamilton Ontario following a brief illness. She is predeceased by her father (John Edwards), mother (Joyce Edwards) and younger brother James Edwards. She is survived by her older brother Jack, as well as her children Bethany and Gordon, and grandchildren Lauren, Kate, Camryn and Matthew. She also leaves behind a rich network of friends from her sorority and The Church of St. John the Evangelist. Barb was a gifted cook and entertainer. She used these skills to build her own catering business in Thunder Bay, Barb's Custom Catering. She was at her happiest organizing dinner parties and entertaining large groups of friends. She is undoubtedly organizing a dinner party (including her legendary baking) right now with long lost friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you consider making a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada in her name. A celebration of life will occur at a later date.

Condolences to the family. Our memories of Barb are from her teaching at George O'Neill School in Nipigon - in the years when the number of boys was double that if girls and the years that it was recommended to let the students decide what should be studied that day!

Bethany, Lauren and Kate
Gord, Camryn, and Matthew
You all have my deepest condolences. Being sad is putting very lightly how I feel.
Barb and I always knew where all the benches in Hamilton were where one could sit overlooking the water and watching the sunset, with a Starbucks in one hand and the other holding on to our bellies cuz we were laughing too hard. I will still do that.
I hope that you all are able to hold onto a special memory or two that belongs to just you.
Take good care of each other.

Bethany and Gordon,
I am so sorry to learn of your mother´s passing and extend my sincere condolences to you and your children. I remember your mother through her cathering business which I made many purchases and was saddened when the business closed. I did not put that connection together until your late uncle Jim made that connection for me. May your mother now be at peace.
