I have fond memories of Cam since my arrival at McMaster University in 1969 as a young, naive assistant professor of electrical engineering. We both had a strong leaning towards mathematical optimization in common and so, being my senior, he was most encouraging, sharing ideas and brainstorming. I looked forward to chatting with him almost daily over coffee in those early years. I envied his continual active life, including skiing and tennis, and world travels to exotic locations. I remember crossing paths once with him and Jean in an airport in Europe. Chatting with him was always a pleasure, his open, positive attitude constantly inspiring. He was always thoughtful, a true intellectual in the best possible way. McMaster University and Chemical Engineering were so lucky to have him. May he rest in peace.

Dr. Crowe was a kind and very knowledgable mentor. I remember seeing him at the ROM a few decades ago...he will be sorely missed and grieved.....

Jean: It was a sad communication when I read of Cam's passing in the Globe and Mail yesterday. Though it is well over 50 years since I shared a working environment with Cam and have not crossed his path in several years, my thoughts of our interactions are still clear and significant. I enjoyed, very much, his intellectual capacity during our conversations and academic pursuit. He contributed significantly to the learning environment during those late years in my education. I have had great respect for him, not only from these experiences but also from the memories! He was a good man.
I add a photo from 1964 of our McMaster group when we attended a conference in Pittsburg. Although Cam did not come with us, it may remind you of those days when the working environment wasone of exploration and views of a future with much yet to occur!

My condolences,

Over the years, Cam did so much to assist the volunteer group, his generosity and thoughtfulness just shone through. All of this is still appreciated.
