It is with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Carlos Da Silva Fernandes on January 30, 2022, in Hamilton, Ontario, at the age of fifty-one. Born to Antonio and Maria Fernandes (nee Da Silva) on December 5, 1970, he is the youngest of five children. Carlos leaves behind his wife of fifteen years, Shelley Fernandes. He was immensely proud of his two children and the lights of his life, Chad and Evelyn Fernandes. Carlos was a step-father and a devoted Vovo to Carter and Maycii-Lynn. Carlos' father's death in 1995 left a tremendous void in his life, and he and his pops are finally together again. Carlos will be terribly missed by his mother as well as his siblings, Tony Fernandes (Karen), Maria Davidson, Helia Dutra, and Lucy Fernandes (Jillian). His nephews Paul Costa (Janae) and Sean Davidson (Myriah) were like little brothers to him. He was loved and adored by his nieces and nephews, Ryan, Kristen, Justin (Becky), Kayleigh (Mike), Amanda (Mike), Kayla (Hunter), Josh, Naya, Noah, Kiah, Kash, Brayden, and Liam. The family's unconditional love for him has been unwavering. He has many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Canada, the United States, and Europe. Carlos was born and raised in the North End of Hamilton, and had many close friendships throughout his life. He was a highly skilled labourer and was an extremely hard worker despite the physical toll that it took on his body. Carlos was an avid sports fan, cheering on his beloved Montreal Canadiens, the Portuguese national soccer team, and the Washington Football Team. On the day of his passing he predicted a Bengals Superbowl victory, teasing anyone who believed otherwise. Visitation will be held at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. E., on Sunday, February 6th from 3:00p.m.-7:00p.m. ALL GUESTS MUST RSVP for the visitation on Carlos' tribute page at
www.friscolanti.com. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Lawrence Church on Monday, February 7th, 2022, at 10a.m. In keeping with Carlos' wishes, cremation will follow. In Carlos' memory, guests are welcome to wear the jersey of one of his favourite sports teams as we say goodbye to our son, husband, brother, father, uncle, and friend.
