Catherine Sime Carson died peacefully on September 15, having lived a full and loving life. Born in Montreal, Catherine was the sixth child of Alexander and Johan Falls. Her five siblings—Isabelle, William, Robin, James and Jean (all now deceased)—were born in Scotland before the family emigrated. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Carson; her son-in-law, Robert Kidd; and her grandsons John Walter Kidd and Simeon Kidd. Catherine married John Henderson Carson in 1944, and in 1946 they moved to Ancaster. She devoted herself to creating and maintaining a loving household as mother to Peter (Mary Gartshore), Wendy (Robert Kidd) and John. She was very involved in her community and church. In 1962 she started a fulfilling career (as "Kay") with the Beckett Gallery of Hamilton and was director of the gallery for many of the 25 years that she was there. John and Catherine were married 57 years, until John's death in
2001.Catherine was grandmother to Jennifer Carson (Tim Glenie) of New Zealand, Abram (Ashby) Kidd of Tanzania, Joseph (Susie) Kidd of Oklahoma, Sarah (Rodney) MacDonald of Bowmanville, and David (Erika) Kidd of Minnesota. She was great grandmother to Briar and Chloe Glenie; David, James, Isaiah, Simeon and Kaijage Kidd; Theron, Tenielle, Avelin and Carson Kidd; Isabelle Williams; Ross and Paul MacDonald; and Theodore, John Walter and Samuel Kidd. In keeping with her wishes, Catherine has been cremated and will be laid to rest beside her husband in a private family gathering. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to
a favorite charity.
Catherine's family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Carrington Place Retirement Residence in Ancaster where mother lived for the last 16 years and to Wentworth Lodge in Dundas who provided care and consideration to her and the family in her last few days.
Catherine was a light in this world and a friend to many. She will be remembered with great fondness.
