It is truly with the heaviest of hearts that we announce that Chad Larence Martin passed away peacefully on February 22, 2023 after a 7-month battle with cancer. He fought with such grace, determination and hope, and through tears and sadness, we can all agree that Heaven just got a whole lot funnier. Chad will be incredibly missed by the love of his life and fiancée, Erin Ruplen. They were best friends who truly never wanted to be apart, spending 15 and a half amazing years together. They had two dogs, Chewy and Bentley, who will miss their dad so much. In the last 7 months especially, everyone around Chad and Erin were inspired while they watched how truly amazing their love and devotion was for one another. Chad will be deeply missed by his dad Larry Martin (Sam). "Chad, thanks for the laughs, thanks for the memories but above all, thanks for being you, my son. Love Dad." Chad is survived by his mother Linda and sister Jennifer Martin. Jen loved watching how Chad saw the world, and will miss her little bro and their playful conversations. His nephew William always laughed when Uncle Chad was around. Chad will be missed by his uncle Len (Margot, predeceased by his Aunt Joan) and his cousins Brandon (Catherine) and Ashley (James). He was also the lucky grandson of Fred and Julie Martin (predeceased). His mother-in law Elayne Ruplen (predeceased by Norm Ruplen) and sister-in-law, Lara Ruplen (Geoff Skerlan) will forever remember his antics, quick wit and lovable charm. He was the proud uncle of Matthew, Chloe and Andrew Skerlan who will miss his playful personality and big hugs. It didn't matter if you knew Chad your entire life or were meeting him for the first time, he made you feel welcomed, and without a doubt laugh until it hurt. His sense of humour along with his infectious smile, drew everyone in. He lived a full, beautiful life in his short 36 and a half years. Taken way too soon, but leaving an incredible mark on everyone's heart. Lover of apple fritters, Grandad's walnut crunches and Fortinos' pizza pretzels, a proud member of the Townies baseball team, and a strong advocate for bidets. Life will never be the same without Chad. A private cremation has taken place. An open house Celebration of Life will be held at The Highacre on March 19, 2023 between 1-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Save our Scruff.
