Clark Wood Obituary

(1928-2023)
Borden Wood, born January 28, 1928. On January 11, 2023, passed quickly, peacefully, in good spirits and under good care at Willowgrove Chartwell Long Term Care Residence in Ancaster at the age of 84. Clark, the son of Frank and Marjorie Wood, is now lovingly reunited with wife Olly. Clark will be sadly missed by brother Dale (Betty Lou), daughter Deborah (Mark), son Kenneth (Allyson), granddaughter Kylie and his extended family. As a young man, Clark served in the Canadian Air Force as a Communications Technician. Although Clark then spent most of his working life as a Professional Firefighter with the Hamilton Fire Department, he also was a part time butcher in Ancaster. He enjoyed playing trumpet for the Hamilton Firefighters Drum Corps and participated in many celebrations and parades in Hamilton and elsewhere. Clark retired First Class from the department in 1992 after 31 years of service. Involved in the local community, Clark spent many years as a coach and umpire for Ancaster baseball and softball. As an avid fisherman, Clark spent decades of summers at Doe Lake spending time with Olly, his family and his many friends after retirement. He is well remembered by his family, friends and relatives as a jovial man who was always smiling. As per his wishes, Clark was cremated January 13th and will be interred with Olly at Garner's Corners Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held with family at a future date. The Hamilton Firefighter's Pensioners' Association thoughtfully donated to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Clark's name and others are encouraged to do likewise. Arrangements entrusted to Dodsworth & Brown Funeral Home, Ancaster (905) 648-3852.
