Craig Connolly Obituary

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Craig Peter Connolly on July 16th, 2022, at the age of 52, at Bob Kemp Hospice surrounded by his family. Craig will be forever missed by his best friend and wife, Jodie, and their children Peyton and Callum, who were his life and loved fiercely by him. He was a loving son to his mom Nancy and the late Peter Connolly, brother to Stephen Connolly (Amy) and Aileen Giannattasio (Eugene), son-in-law to Bob and Marie Wallace, and brother-in-law to Tracey Fraser (Bruce) and Darren Wallace(Kristy). He was the proud uncle of Danielle, Taylor, Diandra, Shannon, Ian, Alexandra, Lauren, Nolan and Teegan. He leaves behind many relatives across the pond in Scotland and an army of friends.
Craig was born April 1st, 1970 and will forever be our fool. He was a proud graduate of McMaster University and alumnus of the Marauder Men's Basketball team. Craig was an avid sports fan, both as a player and a coach, and loved the Detroit Red Wings, Dallas Cowboys, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers (but he always cheered on his home town Cats). It was the love of watching his children in the gym and on the ice that gave him so much joy. Craig spent his career working in sales, and worked his way up to lead a successful team as Director of Sales of Ontario and Atlantic Division at 4Refuel. He was respected by many colleagues and absolutely loved his job. Craig had many passions, including touch football, corn hole, golf and his wee Angus and was the ultimate entertainer everywhere he went. He was the best host at many of the annual Connolly functions and often had people in stitches with some of his charades.
Craig was a strong and beautiful soul whose generosity and selflessness touched the lives of many. This was evident through his journey as he was surrounded by family and friends, fighting to stay with his loved ones. It was during these times that Craig's spirit and love for his family and friends shone the brightest. He was truly one of a kind, and he will be missed dearly.
The family would like to thank his healthcare team from the JCC, the Bob Kemp Hospice, the Palliative Care and outreach team, Bob Tees, and Father Mark for the care and compassion shown to Craig. As per Craig's wishes, a cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 28th, at Corpus Christi Church (1694 Upper James Street, Hamilton, Ontario L9B 1K6) at 10:00am, with the burial to follow immediately at Mount Hamilton Cemetery. Craig's family invites you to a drop-in Celebration, to be held the same day at Willow Valley Golf Course (8475 English Church Road East, Mount Hope, Ontario L0R 1W0) from 1:00pm-4:00pm.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to the Bob Kemp Hospice or the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada
Craig, you will be missed- Let love be louder than grief

Our deepest heartfelt condolences to Jodie, Peyton and Callum, and both respective families on hearing of the passing of Craig. Craig had many circles of friends, the circle we shared with him was Touch Football. We had the honour to play with him and against him. There was never a dull moment in each and every game he played in. His banter on and off the field will be greatly missed. If God has a Touch Football team, you know Craig will be on it. Rest in Peace our friend.

My sincere condolences to the Connolly and extended families. Craig was one of the finest point guards to ever grace a Newman uniform and was certainly the tallest point guard to ever grace the McMaster Marauder uniform. Tenacious, determined and a leader on and off the court. He was a pleasure to have met and coached and have fond memories to this day. May he rest in peace.

The Connollys were one of the first families we met after emigrating to Canada, Craig was born shortly thereafter. He had a vibrant personality from the start which never faltered. Our love and thoughts go out to the entire extended Connolly family. We take solace thinking of Craig now playing golf with "Uncle Daisy".
