Daniel Zimmerman Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Daniel Lee Zimmerman, on Tuesday, September 14 at the Hamilton General Hospital, surrounded by love and family. Best friend and loving husband of Diane. Proud father of Christopher (Sabrina), Shelley (Adrian), Andrea (Ian), Mark, and John (Hope). Equally proud grandfather of Megan, Jenna, Nola, Elijah, William, and Nora. Predeceased by his parents Marion Ruth and Peter Joseph, brothers David, Richard, Douglas, and Peter, and sister-in-law Barb. Dan will be dearly missed by his brothers-in-law Ray and Greg, mother-in-law Jennie Brandt, and many nieces, nephews, and his faithful golfing buddies. As per Dan's wishes, cremation has taken place. He would like a memorial gathering for friends and family to be held at Knollwood Golf Course (Old Course) on Sunday, September 26th from 2pm-5pm. Thank you to the caring staff at the Hamilton General Hospital, 4West and 4South CCU.
If inclined, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Such a remarkable person. I worked with Dan on safety related issues at a Stelco. Incredible laugh, and devotion to his work. I´m sure that was an extension of his family relations. Many golf rounds at Hidden Lake, G&CC (I´m going back an ease here) with many of his work mates too, lots of stories. Rest eternally my friend!

We were so saddened to hear of the passing of Dan. I first met Dan when I joined the ladies league at Knollwood and Dan was our starter! He always greeted everyone with a smile and he was always so welcoming and friendly! I later volunteered and then worked at Knollwood as well so I was able to see him on a more regular basis! I was lucky enough to play in a staff golf tournament with Dan. It was so much fun! He often spoke about his life and his family, who were so very important to him. Knollwood lost someone very special and will never be the same without him but his memory will live on there! We will cherish all those memories of Dan for a lifetime. We will miss his smile, his laugh, his positive demeanour and his presence. Cheers to a wonderful human being. Keep smiling Dan! We will meet again someday...maybe for another golf game!

We were shocked and saddened to hear the news about Danny. The success of the dbmemorial golf tournament was due in large part to the commitment and passion Danny brought to the the tournament every year. Our hearts are broken. We will miss his smile, his laugh and his friendship. We extend our deepest sympathies to the entire Zimmerman Family.

Was lucky to have gotten to know Dan over the last 5 years as coworkers at Knollwood. The courses will be different without him but memories of him will live on here with the staff golfers whose lives he touched.

With our deepest sympathy Diane and family. Dan always had a ready smile and great sense of humour whenever we met at our grandchildren’s birthdays or during the holidays and we know that his family was everything to him. May the love of friends and family bring you all comfort during this time of sorrow.
