Darrell Campbell Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden loss of Darrell Campbell at the age of 63, who passed away after a brief illness at the Hamilton General Hospital on March 31, 2023.
Predeceased by his parents Leonard and Catherine Campbell, Darrell will be deeply missed by his wife Linda/Red of 29 years, daughters Riley Shaw (Derek) and Dana, sister Sharon McKinley (Ken), and brother Scott (Mary), as well as his extended family and friends. Darrell grew up in Ancaster, and lived in Hamilton his entire life. He worked at Stelco for 9 years, after which he worked as a salesman at Johnstone Supply for the next 33 years. Darrell loved to be the centre of attention with his unique sense of humour, and cunning wit. He was a devoted Leafs, Blue Jays, and Dolphins fan. He was happiest when listening to his "old man" music, and when friends would join him for a drink of his favourite whiskey. He was very proud of his rose garden, Nova Scotia roots, and Campbell heritage. Nothing made him more proud than being the father of his beautiful daughters, Riley and Dana.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held on May 6th, 2023, at the Binbrook Agricultural Society Hall, 2600 Hwy 56, Binbrook, ON, from 1:00pm - 4:00pm.

Please wear your favourite Hawiaan shirt or Leafs gear in his honour.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Darrell's passing. I have fond memories of enjoying a beer and talking about Nova Scotia with him. Just last week I was telling my brother about how we could depend on Darrell wearing a Hawaiian shirt on Fridays. My heart breaks for Red and his girls. Sending deepest condolences and prayers from Nova Scotia. God bless and RIP.

Time with Darrell was filled with sardonic smiles and self effacing humour. He loved being with his family and friends. Bogue and I always looked forward to the Campbell get togethers knowing that Darrell would be there. Linda, Riley, Dana - our thoughts are with you.

Linda & Family:

No words seem adequate to express our feelings. So many memories are sealed in our hearts and minds forever. Yet sadly, many more could have been experienced and were just waiting to happen. Darrell will always be warm heartedly remembered for eating nuclear wings while wearing his Miami Dolphin zubaz pants at the Florida Friendly Tavern. Life was always an adventure with Darrell and this world has without question lost a "good" one. Darrell was one of a kind and irreplaceable. Here is to meeting again at the Friendly Tavern or at Chestnut Avenue ! Love Kevin and Tammy Johnston xoxox

Linda, Rily, and Dana. Please accept my sincere condolences. It seems like just yesterday we were all celebrating Darrell's 60th birthday and what a fun night it was, with Darrell leading the way of course. To say how much fun we had playing for the Bed Pans Baseball team for 20+ years would be an understatement. There wouldn't have even been a team if it hadn't been for Darrell's hard work, dedication and commitment. I can still see him circling the bases as fast as he could. Darrell enjoyed winning our games, but he enjoyed the many friendships much more. Darrell was certainly unique, and I mean that in the most complimentary way.
You are all in my thoughts.
Paul

I have known Darrell now for about 15 years as a supplier to B & B Johnstone Supply. I always enjoyed cracking jokes with him and his great dry sense of humor. Darrell was a one of as kind fellow and a wealth of knowledge if you could pick his brain. He will be missed by customers and vendors (friends) like myself. R.I.P see you on the next side. / Ken Wright
