David CREIGHTON Obituary
CREIGHTON, David Theodore Peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday, August 18, 2017. Beloved husband of Iris (nee Buck) for 55 years. Loving father of David, Adam (Linda), and Carolyn (James). Pappa will be missed by his grandsons, Jack, Edward, Denis, Adam Buck and Jacob Creighton. Dear brother of Patricia Sherlock and Lorraine Bowes. Cherished uncle of Debbie, Linda, David, Wendy, Bill, and Cathy Sherlock and Cathy Dufresne. Dave was one of few NHL hockey players that was property of the six original teams. Creighton played 21 professional seasons between 1948 and 1969, becoming one of only four players in hockey history to skate in at least 600 games in both the American Hockey League and the National Hockey League. Creighton appeared in 615 NHL games with Boston, Toronto, Chicago and the N.Y. Rangers. He also owns a piece of Canadian hockey history being the only father/son winners of the Memorial Cup, Dave won it in 1948 with the Port Arthur West End Bruins and his son Adam followed in his footsteps in 1984 with the Ottawa '67's. Dave had fond memories of his days in the Hamilton area, owning and operating Chippewa Creek Golf at Mount Hope, where he made many friends with the staff and members. Dave also spent many years at Burlington Springs Golf Club, Simoro Golf Links in Barrie and Vaughan Valley Golf Club in Toronto. Dave moved to Florida in 1981 where he has owned several golf courses over the years. A private gathering was held at his Fox Hollow Golf Course in Trinity, Florida to celebrate the accomplished life of a remarkable man who will be sorely missed.
