The Lord called home his faithful servant David Karl Mantel on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 in his 46th year. Beloved husband to Christine (nee Westra). Loving and proud father to Zachary, Timothy, Nicole and Jessica. Dear son to Karl and Anne Mantel; and brother to Mark (Jen), Karen (Dave), Chris (Marcia) and Kim (Aaron). Son-in-law to Gus and Margaret Westra; and brother-in-law to Dave (Anne), Peter (Alyson), Michelle (Jared) and Laura-Jane (Jon). Uncle Dave will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
Dave has served as Redeemer University's first and only full time athletic director for the past 15 years. He was known by Redeemer athletes and colleagues for his heart for leadership and character development. His vision for Redeemer athletes was not just to win, but to win with character, building community through the pursuit of excellence and honouring Jesus Christ in all things.
We invite you to read the full Resound story of Dave's life and legacy.
In honour of Dave's passion for athletics, Redeemer has established the David Mantel Memorial Athletic Scholarship. Redeemer's outdoor soccer field will also be named in Dave's honour. The family invites you to celebrate his life and honour his legacy through donations to the Dave Mantel Scholarship Fund through Redeemer University.
Dave has had a tremendous impact on many and will be sorely missed.
Due to restrictions of capacity the family will have a private visitation. Interment will be held at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Copetown on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. with livestream available through the funeral home website for those that wish to take part. The family hopes to have a memorial service at a later date, when restrictions have been lifted, that will be available to the public by livestream.
