David Pringle Obituary

(April 2, 1936 - April 2, 2023)
It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of David Pringle, at his home in Burlington Ontario at the age of 87. Loving dad to Jennifer Lane (Scott), Sarah Jill Barber (Corey), and John Pringle (Laurie), and cherished grandfather to Aidan Barber and Avery Barber. Predeceased by his brothers Donald Pringle and Bruce Pringle. Dave will be missed by his extended family and large network of friends, including those at the Halton Outdoor Club, the Iroquois Canoe and Outing Club, and the Mohawk College Retirees Association. Dave was a graduate of the Ryerson Institute of Technology (1959) and the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (1964), obtaining P.Eng. designation through the Association of Professional Engineers of the Province of Ontario (1966). With a passion for electronics and teaching, Dave served as Professor at Mohawk College, Department of Electro-technology (1972-2001). In his retirement, Dave continued to embrace his love of cycling, canoeing, hiking, camping, and traveling. He remained active to the end. As per Dave's request, no funeral or memorial service will be held, but we're to celebrate his life when together. Following cremation, interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) which Dave supported, or a Charity of Your Choice.

Dave was a wonderful guy who hiked in Northern Italy with my dad's hiking groups. I'm sure that him and my dad will be doing a lot of chatting as my dad passed away last month. My dad, Ernest Roth, is the one in the light blue shirt sitting next to Dave. Dave was a kind and gentle man. Condolences to his family and friends.

We were shocked and truly saddened to hear of Dave's passing. Mark and I had breakfast with the Mohawk tech retiree's a couple of weeks prior. It was good to see Dave in attendance and as up beat as ever. We will miss him. I shared a "wall" with him in our office corridor at Mohawk College for 10+ years. We was a super colleague and a truly nice guy. Hubby Mark taught with us for a few years and got to know Dave well too. Please take care of yourselves and remember that Dave had friends amongst his colleagues and, I'm quite sure, amongst his hundreds of students. Kathy Usik
