Dennis Gould Obituary

Born August 27, 1924, Hornsey, County of Middlesex, England. Passed peacefully and joyfully into the arms of Almighty God, November 28, 2022. Our Dad, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa will be very much missed.
Our family is blessed in the knowledge that Dad had a very strong faith and love for the Lord Jesus Christ who was his Saviour, Lord and Friend. At the wonderful age of 98 he had many memories to share with us his children. Sandra, Hazel Joy, Dennis Jr, and Pamela. He missed our mom very much as she passed away in 2020 after 74 years together. So, dad was truly ready to go "Home". Of late Dad had been a resident at Willowgrove LTC where his gentlemanly ways charmed the staff and he enjoyed so much the friends at his dining table. He loved the hymn sings and singalongs and even had his first experience at Bingo! Thank you to the P.S.W.s, Nurses and Staff at that lovely home. We are proud of you Dad as you served in the Royal Navy during W.W. 2 on the H.M.S. Malaya till 2 weeks after D-Day and early demobilization in 1945 to assist your own family in London. Thank you for your service. You and Mom moved to Canada in 1953 where the family grew and our lives were very much influenced with Church life, Sunday School, Youth Group and the power of prayer. Your faithful prayers for the family have brought us all through difficult times and each of us have had our own faith journey. You loved speaking at the Blind Home and many Senior homes in Hamilton with Mom singing and you preaching. The Royal Baptist church was home church for a while till you moved to West Highland where you so enjoyed the fellowship. Your soccer skills, lawn bowling, carpet bowling and many attempts to beat Mom at Scrabble are the fun memories we all share and as well, you supported your Grandkids as they too caught on to a good game of soccer. Working here in Hamilton at Perco and then McMaster, you touched many lives in your travels always with a "word" from the Lord to encourage and bless. Your old Bible speaks of the hours you studied the scriptures as its pages are marked and underlined with your notes and nuggets of truth you were given and at any opportunity you shared. Just planting seeds of faith and encouragement wherever you could. These last few months with us were hard for you Dad as we saw what getting older does to the mind and body. But you were so brave and faithful through it all...our tears well up ...but Joy comes in the morning. Thank you for all the prayers, hugs, words of encouragement from extended family and friends here and from England. Visitation will take place on Monday, December 5, 2022 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at Dodsworth & Brown Funeral Home, Ancaster Chapel (378 Wilson Street East, Ancaster, 905-648-3852) with service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Hazel and Sandra my deepest condolences and prayers for you and your family at this time. As a staff member at the willowgrove I often had the opportunity to see both you and Hazel take such good care of your father and helping him do all the things he still enjoyed. Your lovely Dad, Dennis reminded me of my Grandfather Frank who was also very charismatic. I will always remember the beautiful relationship you had with your father Dennis and what a wonderful parent he was to you girls. God Bless you and your Family and take Care of Dennis Gould for all of Eternity.

I remember Dennis fondly from West Highland Baptist Church. He was very gentle, kind Godly man. An English person like me, although he was from the south and I was from the north.
I remember Dennis and Helen´s 50th wedding anniversary which they celebrated at the Club House at St Elizabeth Village where me and my husband now live.....in the very same house that The Gould´s used to live.
Condolences to the family. Be comforted by the fact that Dennis is now with The Lord and reunited with his beloved Helen.
