We announce, with sadness, Don's peaceful passing, at home on Monday, September 19, 2022 at the age of 86. Don bravely dealt with the difficult challenges of several health issues. Cherished husband and best friend of Carolyn (nee Bryner) for 60 years. Proud and loving Dad of Tom (Wanda) and Leanne (Grant). Devoted Grandpa of Blake, Sherri-Lee (Briar), Marisa, Adriana, and Great-Grandpa of Harlow. Survived by brother Doug and family, and predeceased by sister Betty-Anne. Don will be fondly remembered by extended Bottoms and Bryner families. Don's retirement from Long Manufacturing (Oakville) after 30 years, gave him a great retirement. Don's lifelong passions were gardening, wood carving, conservation through Oakville & District Rod & Gun Club (member 67 years), his dogs, and most of all fishing. Don's love for his family and their love and respect for him sustained him, and now he can rest in peace. According to Don's wishes, a cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will take place Friday, October 14, 2022 at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME 485 Brant Street, Burlington (905-632-3333), from 4 -7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don's memory to the Cancer Assistance Program, or the Multiple Sclerosis Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
