Donald Shortreed Obituary
Don passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 19th at St-Joseph's Hospital in Hamilton. He is survived by his wife Linda, who he spent many wonderful years summering on the Big Rideau and wintering in Florida. He is also survived by his two sons Brad (Carole) and Brian (Rita), as well as his two grandchildren Jacob and Holly, respectively, Linda's two daughters, Barbara (Keira and Ryan) and Patricia (John). Don worked for the CIBC for 42 years and was posted all over the province of Ontario to retire in Ottawa. To give back to his community, Don did volunteer work wherever he went. Some of the best times of his life were spent with his sons going camping, both boys avid campers to this day. Sports were also part of daily life for them, competition and winning close in sight. Life with Don was never dull! For health reasons, Don moved to Grimsby to have better access to medical facilities. He had his kidney transplant in 2012 from his son Brian and was well looked after by Dr. Darin Treleaven at St-Joseph's Hamilton Health Care Sciences Renal Transplant Outpatient Clinic. The family would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Treleaven and all the doctors and nurses both in Grimsby and Hamilton for taking care of Don on different occasions. There will be no funeral, at Don's request. A Shortreed family service will be held when Don is laid to rest in Priceville with his parents. Donations to the Kidney Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
