Donato TORTIS Obituary

Peacefully, in his 93rd year, Donato Tortis passed away on February 12, 2021. Beloved husband of Domenica Tortis for 61 years. Loving and devoted father of Maria and Vince (Patricia) Tortis. Cherished grandfather of Daniel and Patrick. Pre-deceased by his parents, Vincenzo and Assunta Tortis and his in-laws, Giuseppe and Brigida Suffoletta. Dear brother of the late Giuseppe Tortis (Maria), Fernando Tortis (Lyudmyla) of Italy and Irma Valeri (late Antonio) of Hamilton. Dearly loved brother-in-law of the late Antonio and Dora Suffoletta, Filomena Radassao (late Sebastiano), and Giuseppina and Michelino Ciancone. Zio Donato will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy. Dad was a long time, dedicated employee of Stelco. He was a hardworking family man with a great sense of humour. Dad was happiest when he was at family gatherings and celebrations. He also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and bocce. Thank you for the kindness and support of the doctors and staff of St. Joseph's Healthcare and St. Peter's Hospital. A private family funeral will take place at Bay Gardens followed by entombment at Holy Sepulchre in Burlington. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Margaret Mary Church, St. Joseph's Healthcare Foundation or St. Peter's Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family. We were blessed to have Dad for so long and we take comfort in the knowledge that he is now resting in peace with the Lord. Please sign the online Book of Condolences at www.baygardens.ca
