Sutherland, Donna June, of Burlington Ontario died at home with family near, on Friday February 24, 2023, in her 96th year. Born June 12, 1927 in Mitchell Ontario. Predeceased by parents Pete and Ethel Stuart; son John Lilly Jr.; brothers Bill Stuart (Doris) and Jack Stuart; first husband John Lilly Sr.; second husband Hugh Sutherland; cousins Bill and Barbara Racey; in-laws Agnes Lilly, John Millington, Nylle Stuart, Jean Wingate, Jen Blezard, Bill Lilly, Orin Benjamin, Jean Benjamin, Don Sutherland, Nelda Sutherland, Ken Clarke, and Sister Mary Adela. Survived by sister-in-law Doris Stuart of Salmon Arm, British Columbia. Survived by descendants of her marriage to John Lilly Sr.: daughters Barbara Stares of Hamilton, Jane Millington of Ste. Foye QC and Mary Lilly of Burlington, and sons Adam Lilly of Havelock and David Lilly of Toronto; grand-children Emily Stares (Andrew Fullerton) of London, Katherine Stares of Tofino BC, Jessica Stares of Hawaii US, Sam Lilly (Abby Hume) of Peterborough and Kabriel Lilly of Toronto; great-grandchildren Rosa and Domina Stares of Hawaii US and Isobel Lilly of Peterborough; nieces Katherine Culligan (Howard) of Stratford, Janet Stuart (Orville Blake) of Whitchurch-Stouffville, Patricia Cooney of Vernon BC, Jean Anderson (Duncan) of Dorset UK, Susan Meadows of Yeoville UK, Nan Engen (Rich) and Margaret Lilly (Richard) of Michigan US; nephews Pete Stuart Jr. and Ian Stuart (Diane) of Salmon Arm BC, Robert Stuart of Wolfe Island, and William Stuart of Mitchell. Survived by descendants of her second husband's Hugh's first marriage: son Sandy Sutherland (Cheryl) of Calgary AB, daughter Anne McLaughlin (Emerson) of Brantford, grand-children Shannon Share (Josh) of Toronto, Erinn Sutherland (Arthur Blackburn) of Victoria BC, Brian McLaughlin (Rachel) of New Liskeard, Iain Sutherland (Lisa) and Derek Sutherland (Jenny) of Calgary AB; and great-grand-children Malcolm and Peter Blackburn of Victoria BC, Ethan of Toronto, Jonathan and Lily of New Liskeard, and Preston, Keegan, Wes, Zoey and Emery Sutherland of Calgary AB. The family wishes to thank geriatrician Dr. Patterson at St. Peter's and GP Tim Cuddy for their years of kind and thoughtful care of Donna. Thanks to Colleen, palliative care nurse from St.Elizabeth Healthcare, for her critically helpful end-care of Donna. Above all, thanks to Mary Lilly and Barb Stares for providing seven years of live-in care so Donna's final days could be spent at home. Memorial service to be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 2p.m. at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, 70 James St. South, Hamilton Ontario. Reverend Mark Lewis to officiate.
