On April 22, 2021, after a wonderful and full life, Edward James McMahon has left us to reunite with his son Sean. He leaves behind Trudy, the love of his life and wife of 57 years, as well his children who were the lights of his life P.J. (Dona) and Kelly (Trevor). His legacy will live on with his grandchildren whom he adored, Jack, Chelsea, Cameron, Carl, Brynn and Carys. There to greet him are his big sisters Kay (Joe), Theresa (Jim), Marie (Jim), and survived by his adoring sister Margaret (Mike). As a child of Irish immigrants Frank and Bridgit, Ed remained humble and was grateful for everything life offered him. He was the youngest of 5 children and watched over closely by very protective sisters. He grew up a proud Torontonian, graduating from St. Michael's College and the University of Toronto. He loved his Argos and his Leafs. After graduating he entered and excelled in the business world becoming a well-respected national sales manager. Ed had a strong faith in God which lead him to dedicating any time he could to the church as a lector and extraordinary minister. Catholic education was very important to Ed, which was reflected by the many years he served as a trustee. After his retirement, Ed and Trudy became snowbirds and relished 20 winters spent in Florida, with the occasional trip in between to explore the rest of the world. When he turned 80, he walked along the Great Wall of China, all the while remarking at how great life was. Even in his later years, his lifetime love for golf and tennis never slowed him down. Ed was forever thankful to have enjoyed his passions longer than he ever imagined. He left many great memories and lessons, and those who knew him are richer for the time we spent with him. Celebrate his life as he would want us to.
