With heavy hearts and profound sadness we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and nonno. Emidio passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at the age of 87. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered by his wife Irma (nee Nardini) for more than 63 years. Loving father of Enrico (Sandra) and Lisa (Phil) Palermo. Most adored nonno of Lucas, Matthew, Giuseppe, and Mattia. Dear brother-in-law to the late Cesare and Giuseppina Nardini, the late Angela and Vincenzo Sienna, the late Rita and Pancrazio Peroni, the late Onorina and Adornino Caterini, Stella and the late Battista Nardini, Serafina and the late Cesare Canci, Assunta and Carmine DiBartolomeo, Antonia and the late Harry Burke, Mary and the late Felix Nardini. Dear brother to the late Gabriele Tirabassi and his family with whom he began his life in Canada. Emidio will be forever missed by his brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins in Italy. Also fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends in Canada and his caring and loyal neighbours for whom Emidio has always been grateful. Emidio was a loyal and hardworking custodian for the Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board for more than 30 years. He was much loved by staff and students. He always took pride in and enjoyed his work and made many friendships over the years. Emidio leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love for his family, kindness towards everyone and his passion and expertise in proudly preserving and sharing the traditions of his homeland. Those you love don't go away, they walk beside you every day.
Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway #8 (east of Millen Road) STONEY CREEK (905-664-4222) on Friday, December 10, 2021, from 3-5 and 6-9 p.m. Prayer Vigil at 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, 934 Highway # 8, Winona, on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 10 a.m. Private family entombment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. There are no capacity restrictions for the visitation, however proof of full vaccination is required to attend.
