Florence JEFFREY Obituary
After a long happy life, Florence passed away on September 2, 2022, surrounded by and in the arms of her loving family. She was an incredible wife, mother, mother-in-law, nana, sister, sister-in-law, auntie, cousin and friend to so many. Florence was predeceased by her loving husband Bill Jeffrey. Florence is survived by her three children Mark (Amy), Mary Anne (Brad), and Joe (Angela). Florence is the proud 'Nana' of three grandchildren Shane, Davis and Cole. She was very close to her predeceased siblings Peter (Marie) Speziale, Connie (Joe) Curto, Grace (Angelo 'Gig') Curto, Jack (Mary) Speziale, Jackson (Laura) Speziale, Anita (Sam) Scime, Angelo 'Curly' (Nora) Speziale, Rose (Tony 'Mugsy') Marasco and Sam (Yolanda) Speziale.
Florence was also very close to her in-laws and is survived by her brother-in-law Bob (deceased wife Marjorie) Jeffrey and sister-in-law Joan (deceased husband Jimmy) Jeffrey, and predeceased by Jack (Evelyn) Jeffrey, Tom (Elsie) Jeffrey, Elsie Lavery, Walter (Betty) Lavery and Aileen (Stan) Lusk.
Florence was a second mother to Maria and Trevor Cook, and second grandmother to their children Alexandra and Adam.
Florence and Bill co-owned the House of Java in Hamilton, with Bob and Marjorie.
Florence was the stabilizing force and matriarch to a large extended family. Florence and Bill were happiest when they were feeding the people they loved. There was always a seat at the table for family and friends, both old and new. At the start of every dinner Florence led the blessing, 'Thank God we have each other'. We thank God that we had Florence in our lives. She was always everyone's favourite 'Auntie' and her grace and presence touched us all.
A special thanks to Nick Curto, and Bill and Kathy Nachtrab for making this transition easier. Thanks to the staff at Highgate Retirement Home for their care of Florence over the last couple of years as she enjoyed her time there.
In accordance with Florence's wishes, a private interment has taken place. A mass and Celebration of Life will take place in the coming weeks/months. In lieu of flowers, donations to Out of the Cold of Hamilton, or SPCA Hamilton/Burlington would be greatly appreciated.
