Francesco Carpanini Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear father Francesco Carpanini who passed away peacefully on May 6, 2023, just one week shy of his 94th birthday. He is now reunited with his wife Mary (2018). Loving father to Paul (Claudine), Gary (Gisele), Mary (Frank) and Suzy (Jamie). Cherished grandpa of Stephanie (Bob), Marco (Samantha), Katie, Patrick (Amanda), Jaclyn, Jesse and Jack. Great grandpa to Georgia. Frank is survived by his brother John and wife Ada from Wales. He is predeceased by his siblings, Lina, Rudolph and Luisa and his beloved Uncles Ron and Luigi.
Frank was born on May 13, 1929, in Newport, Wales. As a child, he returned to his parents' hometown of Bardi, Italy to attend school. At the end of the war, he returned to Wales where he served two years in the British Army. In 1952, Frank decided to take the long journey across the Atlantic to Canada where he called Hamilton home for the remainder of his life. He met and married his beautiful bride, Hilda Mary Jones in Cobourg, Ontario in 1953.
Frank worked at Dofasco for almost thirty years and was fortunate to enjoy a long retirement. During his retirement, he made frequent trips to Italy and Wales to visit family and friends. Frank was also very active and enjoyed playing golf, bocce, listening to Pavarotti and Bocelli and socializing with friends at the Italian Club. If you ran into Frank, you were never a stranger, and he always had a story or two to share. Last but not least, Frank had a passion for sports especially his beloved Montreal Canadiens and all Montreal sports teams. You could also find him on any Saturday or Sunday watching soccer and he was a proud supporter of the Parma Soccer Club.
He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Hi Guys all my cousins, Paul,Gary,Mary Carolyn and Suzie.

So sorry to hear of your dads passing, we shared
many many stories going back to when your dad married my Aunt Hilda at St Michaels church in Cobourg.
To the time at the Cobourg train station he lifted me up on his shoulders to see the then Prime Minister Louis St Laurent.
I never got to introduce your dad to my child hood friend Jimmy Roberts, who played for Mtrl.
altho your dad always reminded me of that.
So many stories, and lots of laughs.
Thanks for the memories Frank,
God Bless and rest in peace.
