Peacefully, on January 20, 2023, Frank Pietrantonio passed away surrounded by his loving family, in his 89th year. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Carmela. He will be greatly missed by his five loving children Teresa (Anthony), Lina (John), John (Sandie), Nic, Peter (Lois), and proud grandchildren Paul (Jessica), Amanda (Harlan), Alexa, Laura (Leo), Anthony (Kayla), Josh, Christiana, Ben, and Jacob. Frank was adored by his 3 great grandchildren, Lincoln, Madison, and Martin. Predeceased by his parents Giovanni and Teresa Pietrantonio and in-laws Nicola and Angela Fantillo. Frank was loved by his sisters Maria (the late Pardo), Angelina (the late Michele), the late Antoinetta (Antonio), and brother-in-law the late Celestino (Luisa) and sister-in-law Chiara (Lino). Frank will also be missed by all of his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, both in Canada and Italy. Frank was born on July 19, 1934, in Casacalenda, Campobasso, Italy. He travelled to Canada with his father to create a better life for his family. He was later joined by the love of his life, Carmela, and they started their life together in the North End of Hamilton. Frank had an accomplished career at CN Rail for nearly 40 years, where he retired as a Roadmaster in 1989, all while raising 5 children. Frank will be remembered by all as a generous, hardworking, kind man who always had a funny story or joke to tell. His patient and nurturing demeanor was evident in his lush vegetable garden where he liked to spend a lot of his time. Frank's grandchildren will never forget their Nonno laughing too hard to get through his own joke, how he always kept his freezer stocked with tubs of Neopolitan ice cream, and how he was so proud and excited to pick them a fig off of his fig tree or a tomato from his garden for them to eat. With appreciation and thanks to Frank's neighbours on Simcoe Street and the 4th floor CTU Mary Grace staff at St. Joseph's Hospital. Visitation will be held at Friscolanti Funeral Chapel, 43 Barton St E, Hamilton on Monday, January 23 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Vigil prayers will be held at 7:00 pm. Funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, January 24 at 10:30 am at All Souls Church, 21 Barton St W, Hamilton. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre, Burlington. In Frank's memory, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Souls Church.
