Frank FURLANETTO Obituary

Wednesday, January 11, 2023

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frank (Vladi) Furlanetto at 77 years old, after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. Born in 1945 in Castelfranco Treviso, Italy to Alessandro and Tosca Furlanetto. Loving and devoted husband of Adele (Morson), for 57 years. Beloved father of Sandra (Brent) Armstrong and their children Vanessa (Nick) Filice (great-granddaughter Sophia), Matthew, Joshua (Nicole) and his son Mark (Jackie) Furlanetto and their children Brendon, Bradly and James. Predeceased by his brother Andrea (survived by his children Linda (Paul) and Angela (Byron) and their mother Clara) and siblings in Italy, Zeffiro, Fernanda (Galliano) Bizzaro, Renata (Bruno) Fabrin. Brother-in-law to Dan (Mary Stella) Morson and Loretta (Serge) Alberton and their children.
Dad worked at Stanley Steel (CMP)for 40 years, working along side Mijo Cagalj. Once retired he found a passion for cooking. He would find a recipe and create a feast for his family and became famous for his "lunches" and risotto Sundays. He created memories that will last a lifetime for his family. When he wasn't in the kitchen, he was with his wife and grandchildren. Although dad grew up in an orphanage and came to Canada alone, he became a devoted family man, making his family his top priority. Dad supported his grandkids in any way possible by attending sporting events, coaching, and teaching them many life lessons. Nonno Frank was "our rock". You could go to him with anything and know he would guide you with his gentle ways. Frank also enjoyed his "gym friends" and coffee chats after church at Fortinos. He could start a conversation with anyone and loved learning about their stories. Dad was a kind, gentle, and non judgemental man; never speaking an ill word of anyone. He was the recipient of a stem cell transplant that was able to give him seven more years of quality life.
As per his wishes, a private funeral and service has taken place. In lieu of flowers, if anyone would like to make a donation in Frank's honour kindly consider The Stem Cell Therapy Research Unit at Juravinski Cancer Centre, Our Lady of the Assumption church or "pay it forward" by doing a kind deed for someone.

Thank you for all the baskets of prayers, they are the best flowers.
A million times I needed you
A million times I cried.
If I could have saved you
You never would've died.
In life I loved you dearly
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold the place
No one could ever fill.
Since you'll never be forgotten
I pledge to you today
A hallowed place within my heart
Is where you'll always stay.

My little coffee chats with Frank at Fortino's will always be fondly cherished and remembered. We talked about family, Treviso, investments and the NYC acting world, which he always asked about. I was lucky to have been touched by such a warm, kind, giving man. Our most heartfelt condolences go out to Adele and the rest of the family. Much love, Gabe & Leila Bettio
