FRUEHWIRTH, Franz Passed away peacefully Saturday, June 17, 2017, in his 93rd year with family by his side. He is predeceased by his first wife Hilde and survived by his beloved Christel; his son, Dieter; Christel's family, son Brent (Michelle) and daughter Lisa (Neil and sons Nick and Ben); and many close friends. Franz adored his grandchildren (Corrina, Kevin, Michael and Paul) and took great pride in their academic and athletic accomplishments. Franz led a remarkable life. He was born and raised in Austria, the youngest of 7 siblings and he left home at age 14 to begin his working career. After serving in WWII, Franz had the opportunity to immigrate to Canada. He secured employment with Stelco as a welder and retired with over 30 years service and made Hamilton his home. Franz was an accomplished marksman and was a long time and well known member of the Hamilton Angling and Hunting Association. The family would like to thank the many support staff that helped care for Franz so that he could remain at home over the past 8 months and also the support received from friends and neighbours; our sincere gratitude to all of you. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held Saturday, July 8, 2017, at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, located at 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton, at 1 p.m. with a light lunch to follow.
