Peacefully on Monday, January 25, 2021 the Lord called Freda to himself at the age of 93 years. Predeceased by her parents Pieter and Jantje Oosterhoff, she is the dear sister of Linda† and Herman† Engbers, John† and Tinie† Oosterhoff, Elly† and Jack† Schutten, Lies and Gerhard† Schutten, Ann† and Conrad† van Andel, Pieterke† Oosterhoff, Pete and Nelly Oosterhoff, Jake and Nell Oosterhoff, Albert and Sandra† Oosterhoff, and Tina and Gerrit† Ravensbergen. Aunt Freda (Tante Fre) was loved and will be missed by three generations of nieces and nephews as well as by many colleagues and friends. Dr. Oosterhoff received her Ph.D from the University of London, England and was a professor at the University of Winnipeg. She continued her career as an educator serving as the first Principal of Guido de Bres High School in Hamilton. Later she shared her knowledge by teaching courses at the Canadian Reformed Theolo- gical Seminary and Covenant Canadian Reformed Teachers College. In her retirement years she faithfully led a Community Bible Study at Cornerstone Canadian Refor- med Church and at Streetlight Ministry in Hamilton. She was a talented and humble servant of God who was fond of singing, "Yet not I, but through Christ in me". A Funeral Service will be held at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, Waterdown on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Dr. Bill DeJong officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Hamilton Cemetery. Due to the pandemic restrictions only invited family members will be in attendance but other family and friends are welcome to join the Funeral and Interment Services via livestream link available on the obituary page on the funeral home website.
