Gaetano ALAIMO Obituary

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of an incredible man. Tom entered into heaven on Wednesday, April 8th. He lived an amazing life full of kindness and generosity. Tom knew what life was really about. He lived in his castle surrounded by the most important things in life, his family and his friends. A visit to his home meant you were family and there was always plenty of food and drink. If he had it, he offered it to you. To him, material things didn't mean much. It was the loving care of those closest to him that meant the world to him, this made him a rich man. He was a very proud custodian for the HWCDSB for over 30 years and took great pride in ensuring the schools were always clean and safe for the students, he cared about them as much as he did his own family. Dad, you were always so proud of us yet you will never know how incredibly proud we are of you. We are 99% sure, not bad eh? He will be forever missed by his adoring and loving wife of 60 years, Mary. His loving children MaryAnn, Louie (Eddie), John (Gina) and youngest son Gaetano Jr. (Sonia). He was the most amazing Nonno to Danielle (Mike), Nicole (Steve), Justin, Aaron, Meghan, Andrew, Allison, Celeste, Mary and Stephanie. Predeceased by his parents Luigi and Marianna. Loving sisters Calogera (Sam), Carmelina (Jerry), Teresa (Salvatore) and Gianna (Frank) and his in-laws Tony (Sarah), Lina (Frank), Steve (Anna) and Carmen (Joanne). He will be deeply missed by so many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special thanks to all the doctors and nurses at Juravinski Hospital in the ICU and E4 ward. Special thanks to Dr. Daniel Carter for his amazing care, compassion and support. Due to Covid restrictions a private ceremony will take place. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Juravinski hospital would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for being my dad,

My love and gratefulness for all you have taught me can’t be put into words. Your love, your laughter, your compassion, your sarcasm, your strength, your effort, your guidance and so much more will always be cherished and never forgotten. To thank you for being my father will never be enough. To thank you for being my children’s grandfather, will never be enough.

Your memory and wisdom will live on with us, your grandchildren, and your soon to be great grandchildren. We will speak of all our memories of you, the good, the great, and the better. Each piece of wisdom you’ve passed along to us will be passed to the generations to come, so that they too get the blessing of knowing and loving a spirit so pure like yours.

My love for who you are, who you’ve made me, and how you’ve sculpted my children through the years is beyond words. I’ll go forward doing my best to embody the man you were, so that I continue to live everyday with you in my mind and in my heart.

With infinite love,

Your son
