Gary SIMMS Obituary
SIMMS, Gary Merrick Francis May 24, 1951 - June 11, 2019 We are heartbroken to announce the death of Gary Simms. He died peacefully with family by his side in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 38 years, Ann. He is greatly missed by their children Kathleen, Jenna (Jonathan), and James (Rachel). Gary will also be deeply missed by his wife, Marilyn, with whom he found much love and happiness. Profoundly missed by his step-daughters Lindsay (Adam), Adrienne (Emily) and Shelley (Manny) and always remembered as Mr. Bump by his grandchildren Quinn, Henry and Sebastian. Gary is survived by his brother Malcolm (Marilyn), sister Sharron (Bill), and brother-in-law Vince (Carrie). He will be remembered by his nieces and nephews, Andrew (Janice), Melanie, Craig, David (Mary) and Chloe. Gary was always generous with his free time. He spent many years coaching T-ball and softball with the Valley Park Men's Club. He also served on the board of Conway Homes helping to improve the lives of people living with disabilities. He was an eager chef always prioritizing efficiency in the kitchen by leaving every cupboard door open much to the dismay of his family members. Gary loved travelling, wine, baseball, cards, and striking up a conversation with just about everyone he met. But most of all Gary loved spending time with his family and friends. Gary was ready for a party at any moment with picnic basket and umbrella at the ready in case you need to have a sandwich in the rain. Please join us for visitation on Thursday, June 13th 6-9 p.m. and Memorial Service Friday, June 14th at 11 a.m. at Bay Gardens Funeral Home at 1010 Botanical Drive, Burlington. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to Halton Peel Wellspring Birmingham Gilgan House.
