VOS, George In the loving presence of his family, Gerrit (George) was called Home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at St. Catharines General Hospital at the age of 89. Born in Witteveen, The Netherlands, George was the beloved husband of the late Foekje (Frances) Vos (nee Zwaagstra) for 60 years. Loving father of Arthur Vos (Tina), Jane VanderWier (Adrian), Wilma Acaster (Ron), Lloyd Vos, George Vos (Sharon), Paul Vos (Patty), John Vos (Nancy) and Jennifer Powell (Mark). Cherished Grandpa of 27 grand-children and 34 great grandchildren. Dear brother of the late Alice Lohr (the late Henry), the late Maaike Slot (the late Wolter), Dinie Slomp (the late Lambert), and Ali Miejer (Henk), and remembered by other family in Canada, Holland and Germany. Visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville on Sunday, October 15 from 5-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Riverside Christian Reformed Church, 74094 Wellandport Road, Wellandport on Monday, October 16 at 11 a.m. Interment at Lane's Cemetery, St. Anns will precede the service.
