Geraldine Moffatt Obituary

Peacefully passed away in her 92nd year, at the Hamilton General Hospital, on Wednesday, March 16, 2022. Prior to hospitalization, St. Peter's at Chedoke had been Gerry's home for the past 2 years. Predeceased by her husband James R. Moffatt, her brother L. McNeill and parents Gerald and Catherine McNeill. Loving mother of Jim (Lori), Kathy Schuer (Dirk), Gerald (Theresa), Jon (Terri), Colleen Griffin (Dan), Jeff (Susan) and Jay (Lori). Beloved grandmother to Jim and Jonathan Moffatt, Stephanie Gibbon, Pamela Campbell, Baily and Jennifer Moffatt, David Jones, Riley and Jonathan Griffin, Christopher and Robert Moffatt, Charles and Evan Alfano, Lindsay and Shawn Moffatt. Gerry was also the proud great-grandmother to 13 wonderful children. Gerry had many life long friends in her quiet neighborhood, particularly Bill and Marie Hendry, both of whom were a wonderful source of companionship and assistance over the years. Fondly remembered by the McNeill family in Manitoba - Jim and Carol, Greg, Tanus, Allena and Liam, Kevin, Brigette, Colin and Eric, as well as, John Bowman from Toronto, and Charles and Stella Keliher and family of Charlottetown, PEI. The Hamilton Tiger Cats were also part of Gerry's extended family, having been a season ticket holder and Super Fan for over 50 years. Gerry was a regular visitor to the Stadium on Practice Day, bringing along ice cold water, watermelon and her award winning Coffee Cake for all the players and staff. Gerry had special Tiger Cat Birthday and Baby cards made up, that she would send to the players on their Birthday or to their family when a newborn arrived. Along with the cards, for the newborn, she often sent along her hand knitted baby blankets, sweater and bootie sets. Some of the players even attended Thanksgiving celebrations at her home, right along with her family. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday April 2nd at Marquis Gardens Banquet & Convention Centre, 1050 Rymal Road East, Hamilton. 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Donations to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated.

To all the Moffatts: sad to hear of your Mom's passing. I have fond memories of her. She always had time and a warm smile for so many in the old Huntington neighbourhood.
