Gerrit Bernard WESTERINK

WESTERINK, Gerrit Bernard (Enschede, The Netherlands March 4,1921 - Grimsby, Ontario, Canada November 1, 2017). After a brief illness, in his 97th year, Gerrit peacefully entered eternity with his dear wife of 67 years at his side. He is survived by his wife Johanna (nee Ten Hove), daughter Margaret (Henk) Kleyn, predeceased by his son Jack 1954-2015 and grandson Benjamin 1980-1981 (Lena), son Doug (Carolyn), daughter Joanne (Colin) Herd, 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and his sister, Nel Van Polanen (The Netherlands) and sisters and brothers-in-law. Visitation will be on Saturday, November 4 from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. followed directly by the Funeral Service at the Maranatha Free Reformed Church, 1114 Old Mohawk Road, Ancaster, Ontario, with Rev. W.E. Klaver officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests gifts to Shalom Manor and Gardens, Grimsby, Ontario. The care and love shown to our parents by all the staff there was truly above and beyond. One of Gerrit's favourite Bible texts was Romans 8:1 He would want this gospel applied and appropriated liberally.
