Gilles Mongrain Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Gilles Luc Mongrain announces his passing after a courageous battle with cancer, on April 14, 2021 at the Juravinski Hospital at the age of 72 years. Gilles will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years Bertha Mongrain (Babineau) and his children Jeff and his partner Debbie, Natalie and son-in-law Steve. He will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Jack, Mitchell, Brady and Auston. Gilles will also be fondly remembered by many brothers and sisters whom loved him dearly. Yvon and Louiselle, Lina and the late Guy, Michou and the late Guy, Michel and the late Patricia, Micheline and Richard, Norman and Suzanne, Carole and the late Denis, Ginette, Louise and Dave, Raymond and Doreen. Gilles will be missed by many friends who he cherished very deeply. Gilles was a long employee of the Horizon Utilities and Central Plumbing. Gilles greatest passion was spending time at the trailer playing horseshoes and enjoying a nice drink by the fire. A special thank you to the staff at the Juravinski Hospital and the doctors and nurses in C4 and B3 units for their wonderful care and compassion. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave. (between Mohawk and Fennell) on Sunday, April 18, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Due to current COVID-19 regulations, masks are mandatory and guests must RSVP by visiting www.dermodys.com or by calling 905-388-4141. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 19, 2021 privately for the family at St. Eugene Catholic Church. In memory of Gilles, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be left at www.dermodys.com
