Hans Kreplin Obituary
Hans Kreplin, P.Eng., died on June 9 peacefully at the Joseph Brant hospital at 94 years of age.
Hans immigrated to Canada in 1953, followed by his wife and his first child. Industrious in spirit, Hans began sweeping floors at Stelco; moved on to work the blast furnaces, instrumentation and finally after completing his P.Eng. he moved to the Stelco Tower working on the Lake Erie development's energy systems before ending a career that spanned over 30 years.
Hans was an avid follower of global and domestic events impacting economic trends. He served as President of the Burlington Rate Payers Association which advocated for the protection of the escarpment and environment. He loved the outdoors, was an avid camper and kayaker with numerous places he visited frequently. In his later years enjoyed the comradery of his bocce buddies in LaSalle Park. He lived in the same apartment for 50 years in LaSalle Towers.
Hans is survived by his children: Cornelia (David Harris) of Edmonton; Claudia, of Okotoks Alberta; and Martin (Eleanor) of Moncton NB; four grandchildren and two and half great grandchildren.
Not a man to draw much attention to himself, there will be no funeral or reception. In memory, donations to a green cause of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
