September 11, 1931 - December 17, 2021
The music has ended; the keyboard is closed. Sadly the family announces Helen's passing on Friday, December 17, 2021, at The St. Joseph's Satellite Facility in her 91st year of life and 67th year of marriage. A devoted wife, mother and homemaker. For the past several years Helen coped with dementia, most recently Alzheimer's disease. When her soul left this life she was relieved of that burden, for which we give thanks while grieving our loss. Mourning her are her loving husband, Andrew, son Bruce and his extended family, son Ken (Donna), grandchildren Chelsea and Nathan, great granddaughter Jennifer Walsh, step-granddaughters Aleah (Jessica) and Amanda Tyrcha and sisters-in-law Irene (Frank) Tremblay and Mary Morton. Helen was the daughter of the late Margaret and Harold Stevens; sister of Thomas (Pat), and Betty Connolly. Predeceased by her brothers Richard, Robert and William, sister Anne Purdy and brother-in-law Robert Purdy. Helen was much involved in the music of St. Paul's United Church, Dundas as Associate Organist, choir leader and choir member, Past President of the UCW, and volunteer with the Dundas Red Cross and Cancer Society. Our thanks to Dr. L. A. Coren and the medical teams who cared for Helen in her last months. Helen has been cremated, as she requested. We will celebrate Helen's life at a later time with visitation before and after this service. In her memory, expressions of sympathy to St. Paul's United Church, The Alzheimer's Society, or a charity which has special meaning for you would be appreciated by the family.
