Hratch BEDROSSIAN Obituary

Hratch Bedrossian of Lagoon City, Ontario passed away at home on Thursday, October 7, 2021, four weeks shy of his 80th birthday. He bravely battled cancer for many years with great perseverance. Hratch was born in Alexandria, Egypt, November 8, 1941. He graduated from the Don Bosco Technical Institute, where he enjoyed learning many specialized trades skills. Hratch moved to Canada in 1961 to pursue better opportunities and a better life, settling in Hamilton, Ontario. After his mother insisted he visit a friend's daughter in Montreal, Hratch finally agreed and was pleasantly surprised to meet a beautiful young woman, Nairi, who became the love of his life. They were married on June 4, 1966, and enjoyed over 55 wonderful years together. Anyone who knew Hratch would agree that he was extremely passionate, driven, and dedicated to various interests in his life - house construction and renovations, camping, fishing, boating, gardening, Armenian culture, Church, and friends. In the early 1970s, Hratch found that Hamilton did not have an Armenian Church, which was very important to him. He looked up people with names ending in "ian" in the Hamilton/Burlington directory and phoned them. Hratch discovered many like-minded Armenians who joined to found and build the long-lasting St. Mary Armenian Church of Hamilton. After working as an electrician for a year, Hratch realized he could earn more working at the Ford Motor Company. He started on the assembly line and worked his way up to other roles including technical jobs, new automobile model prototype projects in Detroit, and managing major mechanical painting systems. He retired from Ford in 2004 and enjoyed his retirement in his beloved Lagoon City on Lake Simcoe. Family was Hratch's top priority, and he leaves behind his wife, Nairi Bedrossian, daughter Tanya Bedrossian, son Haig Bedrossian and four grandsons, Lucius and Sasha Balian, Henry and Neville Bedrossian. The Bedrossian Family will kindly accept donations to St. Mary Armenian Church of Hamilton, in Hratch Bedrossian's honour. Donations to St. Mary Armenian Church of Hamilton.
