January 24, 1954 - March 16, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ian at St. Joseph's Hospital at the age of 69. Loving father of Robert (Julie). Beloved son of Ezilda and Joseph (predeceased). Cherished brother to Louis (Avila), Les, and the late Mario (Christine). He will be missed by his nephews Karl, Sean, Brent, and Bryan, and nieces Leslee and Lyndsey, in addition to many cousins and extended family. Ian held several jobs over the years but always excelled in sales roles, particularly his years spent with the Northern Company as store manager. He was invariably skilled in the kitchen and his pork curry always impressed. An avid sports fan, he thoroughly enjoyed watching the Montreal Canadians since coming to Canada in 1972. Those who knew him appreciated his dry sense of humor. He was humble in all that he did and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Special thanks to the staff at the Hamilton General Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital, especially the ICU staff. Also a special thank you to the staff at Able Living for their care and support. Memorial Visitation will be at MARKEY DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth), Hamilton, Ontario, on Friday, March 24 from 1 -3 p.m. Memorial Service to follow at 3 p.m. in the Chapel. Donations to Able Living would be appreciated.
