Ian WRIGHT Obituary

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Ian at the age of 55, following a courageous and brave battle with metastatic brain cancer. Ian passed away peacefully at St Peter's Hospital on Friday, June 24, 2022 surrounded by his family and life companion/best friend Glynis. Survived by his parents Maureen and Billy, his sisters Kelley (Jason) and Lynda (John), nieces, Hilary and Lauren, nephews Declan and Conor, his son Liam, a host of family and friends and Bronson, his beloved dog. Ian will be greatly missed by many relatives and friends here in Canada as well as Northern Ireland, his place of birth. Ian was best known for his, independent spirit, fun loving nature, his hard work ethic and kind heart, with always a soft spot for the underdog. He made friends easily and was always willing to lend a helping hand anytime. Ian enjoyed building, working on renovations, often sharing photos of his latest projects, music, socializing with friends and walks with his many dogs over the years. Our family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and social workers at Hamilton General Hospital, Juravinski Hospital and St. Peter's Hospital for your exceptional care and compassion throughout Ian's journey. Visitation will be held at DONALD V. BROWN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Lake Ave. Dr. Stoney Creek on Wednesday, June 29th from 5-7 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel Thursday, June 30th at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and/or Hamilton SPCA. Ian worked with me on many renos. He was a master at
McGivering!, a reflection of his skill!. He was so generous with both his stories and materials. He had a back of creating new words, which the listener understood immediately and wondered why they were not in common use. This contributed to his great story telling and reflected his imagination and intelligence. May God bless Ian and bring him tricky renos for him to ponder and conquer on the other side! Sympathy to his family who he often spoke of! I will add photos as I find them!

Ian did many renos with me. He was so talented- the best McGiverer ever. "Lipstick and bubble gum" he would often say. He was generous with passing on materials and stories! What I found so witty of Ian was his use of made up words, that made sense immediately, to the point one wondered why these terms were not already in common use. Just one way he showed his brilliance in story telling! May God bless his loving soul and bring tricky renos to solve on the other side!

Ian was like a big brother to me. He lived across the street from me when I was a resident landlord. He was always out shoveling our elderly neighbours snow in the winter and socializing with everyone. A brilliant good hearted man who could make anyone laugh with his intelligence and youthful positive candour. You will be missed Ian!
