Passed away peacefully at her home in Hamilton, Ontario on August 9, 2022 at the age of 92. Ilga was born in Mazsalaca, Latvia on March 2nd, 1930. She is predeceased by her loving husband Leonards and daughter Valda. Lovingly remembered by nephews Ernest Magrics (LÄ«ga and family), JÄnis Tenteris (IrÄ“na and family) as well as many nieces and nephews in the U.S.A and Latvia. Ilga was born in Latvia in 1930. In 1950 she moved, together with her family as a refugee of WW2 via Germany, to the United States and then eventually to Hamilton, ON, Canada. Here, in 1952, she married her husband Leonards Andersons and together had a daughter Valda. Ilga worked for many years until her retirement as a hairdresser in The Ontario Hospital, Hamilton. She was a very active member of the Latvian community and was a devoted member of the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Latvian Church in Hamilton where she sang in the church choir and served as the head of the Ladies' Auxilliary for many years. She was also an active member of the Latvian Relief organization Daugavas Vanagi, participated in Latvian amateur theatre and actively supported various charity organizations, such as Kidney foundation, animal shelters and human rights organizations. Special thanks go to all of the people who helped support her during her time of need including the many Health Care professionals. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave. (between Mohawk and Fennell) on Friday, Aug 19, 2022, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for friends and community. Funeral Service will be celebrated at the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Latvian Church in Hamilton, on 18 Victoria Avenue South, on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 9 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodland cemetery in Hamilton followed by a celebration of life at the hall at Christ Latvian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Latvian Church in Hamilton would be greatly appreciated by the family. Share memories at
