Irena Liskauskas

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 10, 2022, at St. Peter's Hospital after a long and brave battle with ovarian cancer. Our immense gratitude goes out to Dr. Jordan Matthew and all the nurses and other caregivers on 3 East Wing, who took such good care of her. We would also like to the thank the doctors who cared for her throughout her health challenges, Dr. Jimenez, Dr. Hastings, Dr. Simms, and Dr. Steen. The most important thing to Irena was her family and showing her love through her cooking and baking. She shared 57 years with her husband Valentinas, whom she loved and cared for until his passing in 2017. They both enjoyed traveling to Mexico - Ixtapa was their favourite. She was very proud of her three children, eldest son Arunas, (wife Kristal and their children Audrey and Aleksander), Daiva, (her husband Michael) and youngest son Raymond. As a young girl in Canada, she participated in the Lithuanian Choir and spent many summer days with her friends at Wasaga Beach. Irena worked for 20 years at Talka Credit Union in Hamilton, putting her great organizational skills to use as teller and office manager. She fostered many long-lasting relationships in the community in this role, as well as the Women's Lithuanian Church Group. Aside from her family, Irena's other great joy came from the kitchen. She loved to cook, but especially loved to bake. She spent the last decade perfecting her biscotti recipe which she generously shared with her family, friends and doctors. We love you and will miss you very much....mes visi tave mylim. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, donations are welcome to the Canadian Cancer Society or Hamilton Food Share. The Funeral Mass and interment will take place on Friday, May 20, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Lithuanian Martyrs' Catholic Church, 2185 Stavebank Road, Mississauga.
