Ivan LUKACIC

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ivan, son of Stjepan and Josipa, at the age of 79, on Friday, April 29, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at Juravinski Hospital. Beloved husband of Sharon (nee Oliver) for 49 years and deeply loved father of Stephan and Jennifer. Cherished brother of Doroteja Balun (the late Bozedar) and Rosika of Croatia. Predeceased by his siblings, Magdica Vuksan (the late Dusan), Marko, Jagica, and Marica all of Croatia. He was a dear brother-in-law to Susan (Carl) Pleli and a devoted uncle to Ranko (Kosana) Vuksan, Mladen Balun, Milena Balun (Rob), the late Ankica Lukacic, Dylan Bailey (Tina). Ivan will be sadly missed by nieces and nephews, Mirjana Vuksan (Igor), Anka Vuksan-Scott (Robert), Dejan and Branko Lukacic, Edward and Daniel Barker, Skyler, Henry and Zosia Bailey. He held a special place in the hearts of family members in British Columbia, Britain, and Australia. Ivan was blessed with many wonderful friends who mourn his passing. Like his beautiful family, they have been constant in their unconditional love and support during the last 3 years of health challenges, sharing his journey and easing our family's burdens. Ivan emigrated to Canada from Yugoslavia in 1967. He worked at Dominion/Consumers' Glass for thirty years and retired from Wentworth Mold and Die in 2007. In his retirement years he enjoyed spending time at home in Grimsby tending to his gardens and grapes, making wine, and in Haliburton spending time at the family cottage fishing and boating. Ivan loved his Maple Leafs and was an avid soccer fan. He was a jack of all trades, always engaged in one more project. We extend our heartfelt gratitude and special thanks to Dr. Shivani Dadwal and Dr. Dhesy at the Juravinski Cancer Centre for their expertise, compassion, and care, and to the many medical teams of doctors and nurses at Juravinski Hospital who worked tirelessly to meet all of Ivan's needs. The family will receive friends at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Thursday, May 5, 2022, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Prayer Vigil will be held at 3:45 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 135 Livingston Avenue, Grimsby, on Friday, May 6, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. Cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations in Ivan's memory may be made to the Juravinski Cancer Centre or to a charity of your choice.
