James HEWITT Obituary

(April 8th, 1963 - June 14th, 2022)
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Dennis. Lifelong partner of Susan and adoring father of Chloe. Loving companion of Kristeen and proud father figure of Lekan and Akin. Beloved son of Trudy Chiswell, the late James Hewitt, and Don Bridle. Cherished big brother of Sarah Caryl and the late Cherie Hewitt. Inspiring uncle and father figure of William Hewitt. He will leave a deep void to many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. A devoted friend to so many who thought the world of him. With a passion for adventure and motorcycling, he left doing what he loved in the beautiful Yukon territory during a trip of a lifetime. Along with his riding, Dennis had an equal passion for watching Chloe's track and cross-country races - he happily followed her across the country to watch her run. He was filled with pride to watch Chloe bring her team to a national gold medal in the final race of her university career. Dennis lived larger than life, he touched the lives of everyone he met. He was the proud owner of Accurate Door and Hardware, where all of his customers became friends. Dennis exemplified living in the moment with his sarcastic sense of humor, storytelling, repair advice, unscheduled visits, and beers with his buddies. Visitation will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 1010 Botanical Dr, Burlington on Friday, June 24th, 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, June 25th at 11 a.m., also at Bay Gardens, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to Hamilton Olympic Club. A Dennis-style time of reminiscing will be held at Grain & Grit, 11 Ewen Rd, Hamilton on June 27th, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Guys, come with your bikes.
Although his life was cut short, Dennis lived, loved, and laughed enough for two lifetimes.

I remember starting my construction career learning trim carpentry from Dennis. He taught me so much but that's where it all started...and he made all of it so much fun.

Then, he helped me develope my own business and was always there when I needed him for whatever. Who does that!

I'll miss the banter, I'll miss the laughs, I'll miss you pal.

There´s a Right Time for Everything

There´s an opportune time to do things, a right time for everything on the earth:

A right time for birth and another for death,
A right time to plant and another to reap,
A right time to kill and another to heal,
A right time to destroy and another to construct,
A right time to cry and another to laugh,
A right time to lament and another to cheer,
A right time to make love and another to abstain,
A right time to embrace and another to part,
A right time to search and another to count your losses,
A right time to hold on and another to let go,
A right time to rip out and another to mend,
A right time to shut up and another to speak up,
A right time to love and another to hate,
A right time to wage war and another to make peace.

But in the end, does it really make a difference what anyone does? I´ve had a good look at what God has given us to do-busywork, mostly. True, God made everything beautiful in itself and in its time-but he´s left us in the dark, so we can never know what God is up to, whether he´s coming or going. I´ve decided that there´s nothing better to do than go ahead and have a good time and get the most we can out of life. That´s it-eat, drink, and make the most of your job. It´s God´s gift.

I´ve also concluded that whatever God does, that´s the way it´s going to be, always. No addition, no subtraction. God´s done it and that´s it. That´s so we´ll quit asking questions and simply worship in holy fear.

Whatever was, is.
Whatever will be, is.
That´s how it always is with God

Which reminds us of The famous hockey player, Guy Lafleur, who died on April 22nd, 2022, was quoted as saying that you should always play each game as if it is the final game of your life.

Dennis played every day of his life as if it was his final day every day.

May God keep his soul in his Grip

Our hearts were truly broken when we heard this awful news. We were blessed to have 10 great years with the Hewitt Family as our Landlords . What started out as a student rental with friends turned into a first home for our little family. Susan and Dennis became like family and we had many great times sharing stories, dinners and drinks in the backyard . Dennis will be very missed and it couldn´t have been said better that he lived, loved and laughed enough for two lifetimes. Rest in Paradise , dear friend.

Susan and Chloe, Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. Just having the privilege of knowing and
meeting Dennis was one of the gifts that life has to offer. I will remember our conversations at the beginning and end of his appointments. The lights may dim but they will always brighten when we think of Dennis. Take care
