James Mathieson Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of James Mathieson. Dad died on September 19, 2021. He had just celebrated his 97th birthday. Dad was born in Cowie, Stirlingshire, Scotland. His family immigrated to Canada in 1929. Dad was predeceased by his parents David Mathieson and Grace (nee Elliott Addie), and his sisters Joyce (Gladys), Mary (Robinson) and Anne (Finnamore). He was the beloved husband of Eva (nee Bedford). They were married for over 74 years. Father of Joanne; Grace, James (Birgit); Donald (Janet); Ross (Katherine); Ronald (Elizabeth) and Paul (Julie). He was a loving grandfather to his 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was a loving uncle and friend. Dad was a long-time member of AA. He was active in TeleCare; Unity and The Salvation Army. He was a World War II veteran. He loved the outdoors. Mom and dad spent many happy years in Bobcaygeon, Fort Myers Beach and Dunnville. He was a swimmer, golfer and loved sports. Due to Covid19 there will be a small private service. Memorial donations may be made to The Salvation Army or to a charity of your choice. Thank you to the staff of The Wellington for their care.

Fly with the angels Dad. Wherever we are, God is! You will be missed.

Sorry to hear of Jim´s passing. I have great memories of Jim from when I was a kid and spending time on Kilbourn with Don. Glad to hear he had a rich life and a loving family. All the best.
