James Muirhead Obituary

MUIRHEAD, James Stuart
It is with great sadness we share that Jim left us, far too soon, on Sunday August 8, 2021.
Dear husband of Leslie (Brown) and beloved father of Graeme (Meagan), Aimee (Cory), Miriam and Faith. Delighted grandfather of Fiona and Malcolm. Devoted son of the late James and Jean Muirhead. Proud cousin, more truly a brother, of Bryce Geoffrey (Christine).
After earning a Political Theory degree at McMaster, Jim pursued a Blacksmith apprenticeship at Stelco where he earned several other skilled trade tickets. He was also an advocate for his fellow workers in USW Local 1005. Before retiring, he served as Injured Workers Program Coordinator for USW Halton/Peel.
He was a man of great faith and prayer. Jim loved working with youth and volunteered many hours with both Scouts Canada and his church.
Private family service.
Memorial donations to Indwell in his honour would be appreciated by the family.
Praise God, James has gone to meet his Maker.

I met Jim in Highschool. I later worked with him at Stelco and we shared classes while serving our separate mechanical related apprenticeships. In spite of never becoming real close friends we always liked each other. I found Jim to be a person who wanted to do good things in the world. He did just that. At Stelco he worked hard for his fellow workers rights and I would like to think helped many families to have better fortune because of his efforts. We had recently been in contact and had decided to get together for a pint when the restrictions were relaxed. I regret we will not get that opportunity. Rest in Peace Jim. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Jim and I started our Blacksmith Apprenticeships at the same time; we became chums, I remember he was a quick learner and eager to do many different jobs. Jim had a strength in his physical self as well as his spirit and mind. His enthusiasm knew no bounds, he was an incredible person. I did not complete my apprenticeship and moved into metallurgical. Jim and I stayed in touch for a while but over time we lost touch. I am truly sorry to hear this news of Jim's passing. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. Of all of the people I worked with at the Blacksmith Shop in Stelco, Jim stood out like nobody else. I will remember Jim in my prayers for a joyful life in the hereafter. I'm sure our Lord will find a meaningful job and purpose for this wonderful man.
