Jane SLOTHOUBER Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly loved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother at WLMH in Grimsby on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, in her 95th year. Jane was born in Molkwerum (Friesland), Netherlands and immigrated to Canada with her parents and nine siblings in 1939. Jane was trained as a nurse and received her diploma in 1947, she worked as a nurse until she married in 1952. After retiring from the family business, mom renewed her nursing license and volunteered for a number of years in palliative care. Jane is now reunited with her loving husband Eric (1996) and cherished daughter Sharon (2007) and will be deeply missed by her children Adrienne and Peter Boersma, Sarina and Daniel Labonté, Bernie and Nancy Slothouber, Richard and Veronica Slothouber and Eric Jr. Slothouber. She is survived by 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews from around the world. She leaves behind her sisters - Joan Tigchelaar and Helen Winter and brother and sister-in-law Stephen and Marie Elgersma. Special thanks to WLMH nurses, Dr I. Moore and Family Health Team at Smithville Medical Centre, Alzheimer Society of Niagara, Shalom Gardens and for many thoughts and prayers from friends and family. To the fam. of Jane Slothouber, we just heard of your mother´s passing away a few days ago this past year. We have very fond memories of your fam. Your Mom was a sweetheart of a lady and always opened her home for new teachers and principals when they taught at Wellandport Christian School. Our condolences to you all. John and Hilda Tamming.
