Jean McMICKING Obituary

McMICKING, Jean Margaret (n? Beardmore) In the early hours of April 25, 2019, with her daughter and younger son by her side, Jean Margaret Beardmore-McMicking entered the ""Land of the Leal"" to join her Bill, who had been waiting for her, just inside the gate, for the past six years, one month, and twenty-three days. Born in Toronto in 1924, Jean lived through the Great Depression with many happy memories of Toronto and Muskoka. She served on the home front during the war, working at R.E.L. in Toronto, making aircraft radar equipment. A proud Canadian daughter of proud British parents, Jean was a devout Anglican / Presbyterian, and an unswervingly loyal subject of four monarchs. In her younger years Jean enjoyed Scottish Country Dancing, and, in 1954, she met Bill McMicking at an RSCDS dance in Toronto. They married in 1956, and raised a daughter and two sons. Often unnoticed, and uncredited, she worked behind the scenes at Knox Presbyterian Church, in Dundas, for many years. Jean was a Girl Guide Captain in Dundas, and, later, the Area Commissioner for the Girl Guides. Jean was an animal lover with a tremendous appreciation for cats. Housewife and Mother, Jean was a cook, baker, kitchen maid, laundress, seamstress, quilter, knitter, and the Very Embodiment of HOME, SAFETY, and LOVE. Jean is survived by her children Ellen, John, and Bruce. Cremation has already taken place. A celebration of Jean's life will take place on May 11, 2019, at 2 p.m., at Knox Presbyterian Church, in Dundas, with a reception to follow. Online condolences may be made at www.marlattfhdundas.com
